The Koćuša waterfall is located in the village of Veljaci, in the municipality of Ljubuški, and is one of the most beautiful natural gems of this part of Herzegovina.
Koćuša is situated on the river Mlade, which downstream from the waterfall changes its name to Trebižat.
The natural wealth of this area also includes sedimentary rocks, known as travertine, which has been deposited over the years, making this natural oasis even more attractive.
During the summer, with exceptionally high temperatures in Herzegovina, the shores around the Koćuša waterfall become a favorite meeting place for locals and tourists alike.
This place is one of the most famous bathing spots on the Trebižat River, and from this year onwards, visitors can enjoy the rich offer of the Koćuša Natural Water Park, in addition to the beautiful waterfall.
Koćuša impresses primarily with its width of over fifty meters, creating an impressive water scene with a five-meter-high waterfall. Standing on the shore, you get the impression that the water wall surrounds you on all sides, hearing the deafening noise and feeling the cool air that nature carries with it from the inside.
The water falls over sedimentary or travertine rocks, which nature has been forming for centuries, giving everything a fairytale-like appearance. When it is not the dry season and the Trebižat River is richer in water, the view becomes even more attractive.
The idyllic ambiance of greenery, rocks, and water is further enhanced buildings from another time that still operate undisturbed on the Trebižat River – mills and watermills.
